What’s the best cookware set? I get asked this question every single day and it’s a lot harder to answer than you might think. Why is it so hard? Because there is no such thing as the “best” cookware set because everybody is different, and everybody uses their cookware differently. Some people cook all day long for a big family, some people cook once a day, and some people cook just every once in a while. Each of these people require a different sort of cookware.
If You Cook A Lot:
If you cook a lot, several meals a day for a large family, for instance, then you’re going to need a much higher quality set of cookware that will hold up under so much stress. In a situation like that, I would highly recommend a good sturdy set of copper cookware because it will last forever and do a very good job. The tin lining may wear off on the inside after a decade or so, but then you just take it back in and have it re-tinned and it’s as good as new. Mauviel Cookware is the industry leader in copper cookware, and I highly recommend them.
If You Cook About One Meal A Day:
If you Cook one major meal a day, for instance dinner, for yourself or a small to middle sized family, then you probably need a good sturdy set of stainless steel cookware. You’re going to be tempted to buy a cheaper set that looks nice but I would really recommend spending a few extra dollars and buying a good solid set that will last as long as possible. I would look at brands such as All-Clad that are going to cost you between $500 and $1000 for a basic set.
If You Only Cook Now And Then:
If you cook a meal every once in a while or cook on a regular basis for only yourself or maybe another person then you can get by with a nonstick set of cookware. This is perfect for working professionals who are always on the run and don’t necessarily have the time to take care of their cookware or clean it properly. Most nonstick cookware can be tossed into the dishwasher. You’re going to be tempted to purchase Teflon because it’s very cheap, but I suggest you spend a few extra dollars to buy hard anodized aluminum cookware because it will last much much longer. Teflon has a tendency to flake off after a few years use and you don’t want to get that Teflon coating mixed into your food even if the FDA says it’s not harmful in trace amounts.
So there you have three main options for different cookware sets catering to three specific lifestyles. Of course, we’ve only scratched the surface of the different options that people have in their own personal lives but hopefully this guide will have given you an idea of the different mindset you should take when choosing the best cookware set for your specific circumstances. Cookware is a very individualized type of thing so if in doubt, stick with your own gut feeling and you should be just fine.
