Delonghi Espresso Machines are a great fit for many different people and many different budgets. In the world of espresso makers there are so many different options, it can often become confusing when all you really want is to make great cup of espresso or a frothy cappuccino or latte. We’re here to help.
Today I’m going to talk about several different machines made by Delonghi. I’ll start at the very inexpensive range and guzzle my way up into the incredibly expensive range giving you a taste of what you can expect along the way.
Coffee can be confusing, I know! Do you need ground coffee or ground espresso or whole beans or pods? Do you need something with a pump or something that uses steam? Do you need a grinder or a frother? Do you need a machine that makes one cup at a time or one that will make several? These questions can confuse anybody. So let’s jump right in and just start talking about the different machine options that are available.
DeLonghi EC5 Steam-Driven 4-Cup Espresso and Cappuccino Maker this is a fantastic entry-level espresso maker. It generally costs under $40 which is a great steal. You won’t find a maker cheaper than this anywhere. It uses steam instead of a pump which generally won’t make quite as good espresso, but if you’re mixing it into cappuccino, you won’t really notice. It has a steam wand but no cup warming plate or removable water tank (it’s important to keep your water tank clean and not having a removable one is a hassle). Unlike other machines at this price range, this one has a 4 cup capacity. All in all it’s a great entry-level machine for those who are just getting started with espresso.
DeLonghi EC270 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Machine, Black and Stainless at around $130 this is the next step up from DeLonghi. It is a pump machine that it stainless in color and has a removable water tank and espresso pod adapter and cup warming plate as well as a self priming pump and steam wand. You should have no problem making great espresso, cappuccino, and lattes with this easy-to-use machine. Some people have reported slight leakage of the water tank so keep your eye out for that if it happens to you, swiftly return it for a new one.
DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine at around $800 we’re quickly moving up into the higher price range of machines for the more serious espresso drinker. This is a very nice coffee maker that has a beans to brew system but is steam powered which is a strange downside. This is a super automatic which means that it will do everything from grind the coffee to froth your cappuccino at the touch of a button. For the price you really can’t go wrong as you will be hard-pressed to find another super automatic at such a low price, but keep in mind that it isn’t pump powered!
DeLonghi ESAM6600 Gran Dama Digital Super-Automatic Espresso Machine at $2,500 this is really top-of-the-line with many bells and whistles. This stylish stainless steel and pump powered super automatic will do everything but mow your grass for you. It has a 7 1/2 cup water tank capacity, timer, removable water tank, built-in grinder, and steam wand. You can use either ground coffee or coffee beans. It also contains a 24 ounce milk container that allows you to switch from frothed milk for cappuccinos to steamed milk for lattes. This is a very nice machine but for the price I really think you could find something better elsewhere.
So there you have several different product options at very different price ranges depending on just how serious you are about espresso! DeLonghi is a very nice espresso and coffee machine company and I give their aggregated Delonghi Espresso Machine products a solid 3 1/2 out of 5 stars overall. Delonghi makes a good espresso cup at whatever price range.
