Epoch dinnerware is a division of Noritake china and is known for it’s beautiful craftsmanship. Perfect for formal dinner settings, these pieces are quickly becoming collectors items, and it’s really easy to see why.
When I thing about epoch design, I think about a commitment to craftsmanship that you don’t often see in dishes today. The Baroque shaping and the beautiful ivory really stand out and scream class, in a muted fashion that is not crass or showy. I especially enjoy the full porcelain body of these dishes, whether it be a platter or single round plates, it’s easy to understand why these dishes have such an intense following.
Noritake has been around since 1904. Their attention to detail is outstanding. These dishes are sold in over 100 countries and are used in hotels and restaurants as well, which really says something I think. If you’re looking for elegance, then these may be the dishes for you.
What can you expect to pay?
They’re not cheap, that’s for sure; but at the same time they aren’t overly expensive making them a great option for nearly every home.

At $52 this is a very nice-looking 5 piece place setting that is made out of stoneware and is dishwasher safe, even though that’s hard to believe. Personally I’ll be hand washing these myself! The set includes a dinner plate as well as a salad plate and a small bowl as well the teacup and saucepan.

At $23 this is a slightly less expensive place setting that contains the exact same pieces as the last set I took a look at. It has a floral design around the outer rim of every piece. This makes them feel less formal and so you would probably use them for more everyday use. Or, you may use them in formal settings during the summer.
Are Epoch dishes Collectible?
Over the years these dishes have become more and more collectible as time goes on. Noritake is only about 100 years old which is fairly young if you think about it when it comes to collectible items. Nonetheless, collectors around the world are starting to stand up and take notice of these interesting and beautiful pieces.

You can find various pieces at places like Amazon.com or other shopping related websites, but the best thing to do is simply go online and search some of the larger dinnerware sites or try your high end department stores as sometimes you can find them there. Another place to look are collectors websites, but expect to pay much more money for older collectible pieces.
So there you have a couple of options when it comes to Epoch Dinnerware. It’s true that you’ll spend a lot more money for these dishes but the quality shines through whether it’s porcelain or stoneware or anything else, the craftsmanship is quite impressive which makes Epoch standout at the top of my list.
