JA Henckels Knives are a great addition to any kitchen, no matter how much cooking you do! In the world of international cutlery, there are only a few brands that really stand out and that’s why I’ve written this guide for you today.

What do you really want in a kitchen knife?

When selecting kitchen knife flatware there are really just a few different things to think about when you really come right down to it:

  • How Sharp is the blade?
  • Will it keep its edge?
  • Will it rust?
  • How does it feel in my hand?
  • How well does it cut?
  • How does it look?
  • How much does it cost?

I’m sure there are a few other considerations as well, but when you get right down to it, that list will probably encompass 99% of what you want in a knife. J.A. Henckels forged German steel kitchen knives stand up exceedingly well under each of those criteria.

Let’s take the J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star II 8-Inch Stainless-Steel Chef’s Knife. A chefs knife is the cornerstone of every kitchen knife set and has been since the history of cooking began; so I think if we focus on the chefs knife we’ll get a pretty good understanding of what you can expect from Henckels international overall.

First of all, how sharp is the blade? It has a razor-sharp edge that will have no problem slicing or dicing as well as chopping just about anything you can throw at it. It has an ice-hardened blade which is precision forged from a single piece of stainless steel meaning it will keep its edge and not rust. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty as well so you can be sure that it will last.

But how will it feel in your hand? It has an enhanced bolster and full Tang design with an ergonomic polypropylene handle that maintains a very nice balance and heft to the blade. I find that polypropylene handles fit well in my hand, but everyone has their own opinion.

We don’t like to admit it but we often use or kitchen knives as items of art. They standout on our countertops and draw the eye, so you want them to look nice. Don’t worry, JA Henckel knives look very nice. They’re stylish and sophisticated but at the same time maintain that classic kitchen knife look that you want.

Finally how much does this chefs knife cost? At $108 I can only describe this as a steal. Chefs knives are expensive, they always have been but this is a very competitive price. With other brands, to get the same quality of knife you’re going to have to spend at least $150-$200 making this one very affordable.

While doing my research, I read hundreds of customer review entries for a myriad of J.A. Henckel products and I was quite surprised at the number of 5 out of 5 stars that I saw given for these knives. At the end of the day though you want to hold one in your hands. If you do so you’ll immediately discover why they have become so popular.

JA Henckels Knives have been around for 275 years for a very specific reason. They hold up well, they do the job with no fuss or problems, they keep their keen edge exceedingly well, and they look stylish while doing it. In my book you can’t go wrong with these great knives.
