Open stock dinnerware is an interesting dining idea. Mix and match; choose the dishes, plates, bowls, and tableware that work for you. It allows you to keep from being tied down to one certain dinnerware set and lets you create a more open dining experience.

Of course, it also lets you flesh out a particular set that might not contain the number of dishes you need. For instance, if you always find yourself using more bowls than came with your set, you can buy a few extra bowls that will go with the pattern of your original set. So there’s some flexibility.

So what do you expect to find here?

Open stock is…open. If you are looking to add pieces to a set you already own, then you will need to run a search for that specific set name at the search engines, or contact the company where you bought the set. Unfortunately I can’t help you out any more with that because I don’t know what set you are looking for! ;-)

When I was growing up, dinner was a madhouse. There were always people everywhere, and you just sort of grabbed whatever plate you could get your hands on. We had plates from all over the place, and none of them matched each other! Personally I sometimes miss that chaos, but now days I like to have specific sets in my kitchen. I think your bowls should match your plates and vice versa.

Some popular open stock companies include:

  • Williams sonoma
  • Joseph abboud
  • Fiesta
  • Mikasa
  • Pfaltzgraff

Open stock dinner plates come in a wide range of materials, but most often you tend to see stoneware for some reason. Maybe because it lasts so long and is so inexpensive, relatively speaking at least. They also come in a wide variety of colors, but black is one of the more popular colors you’ll find. Maybe because black goes with everything, I don’t know.

Where To Find Open Stock Dinnerware?

There are a bunch of different places to find open stock dishes and pieces. The first thing I would recommend is that you run a search at your favorite search engine. Specialty dish web sites are another great place to look, as well as amazon.com. If you know the brand you’re looking for, then you should also check the companies web site. The last place I would look are physical stores, such as high end department stores or low end box stores such as Walmart or Target.

Open Stock Dinnerware is great for families of all different sizes. If you’re looking to round out your current dinnerware set, or are simply looking to mix and match dishes to make your own unique set, there’s something for everyone with open stock.
