The cornerstone of any good kitchen are the knives you use to prepare your meals and Victorinox Kitchen Knives won’t let you down. Whether you are a casual chef or passionate about your craft, these knives will take good care of you for a very long time.
When you look at purchasing a good kitchen knife, you want to be aware of several things:
- The edge (is it thin and sharp?)
- The sharpness (will you constantly need to be sharpening it?)
- The handle (does it balance well?)
- The cutting (does it perform well?)
- The weight (is it too unwieldy?)
- The material (are they stainless steel blades that will last and are easy to wash?)
Fortunately all victorinox knives will hold up to each of these different criteria. Most of their stainless steel blades are hand finished so that you know you’re getting top quality that really will last forever.
Plus there are many options when it comes to victorinox cutlery, in fact these knives are available for just about any kitchen setting.
If you’re looking for a professional tool that handles a tomato (the popular knife test everyone knows about) without needing a sharpener or even constant sharpening, then you’ve found the right brand all the way around. A friend of mine hasn’t sharpened her Victorinox Fibrox 8-Inch Chef’s Knife since the day she bought it and she swears it is just as effective today as the day she brought it into her kitchen.
Victorinox Prices
It’s very easy to spend an arm and a leg for quality kitchen knives, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised with these knives. Separate ones range in price from $15 to $40 or more depending on the model and sets are very competitively priced as well.
Victorinox handle options
You have a nice range of handle options. The standard is Fibrox, which is a sort of hard black plastic that handles nicely and will stand up very well over time. They also offer a nice selection of elegant Rosewood handles, as well as a Forshner Forged line (in both value and professional versions).
Generally speaking the fibrox pieces are cheaper than the rosewood (as you would probably expect) and the forged line are their top of the line expensive models.
Where to buy?
Finding these knifes on sale isn’t always as easy as you might think. I suggest you check your local department store like Target first to get a base price and see if they have any on closeout. Then check online. There are a number of web sites like knifemerchant.com who offer free shipping and claim to beat any price. I’m not sure if they actually do, having never used them myself to buy knives, but they (and others like them) are worth a shot for price comparisons.
Some people suggest that Victorinox Kitchen Knives are the king of cutting at a price that will leave your chef’s sensibility in tact. I’m not sure I would go quite that far, I have my own personal favorites of other brands just like most serious, though amateur, chefs do. But one thing is absolutely sure, these are great knives for the price that will perform well and last for years and years to come.
